🌿 ADOPT

ADOPT A FRAILEJΓ“N/
NATIVE PLANT:

A LEGACY OF LIFE
FOR THE PÁRAMOS

Colombia is losing its glaciers...
and with them, the water supply for millions of people.

WHAT YOUR ADOPTION INCLUDES

By adopting a frailejΓ³n, a native plant, or both, you become an active part of restoring the ecosystems that produce and regulate Colombia's water.

From the moment of your adoption

You'll be able to name your seedling whatever you'd like.

You'll receive a personalized digital adoption certificate recognizing your contribution to the conservation of our high-mountain ecosystems.

Germination time

Germination and growth of these species are natural processes that take time and care. Depending on the species and environmental conditions, planting may take place between 8 and 24 months after your adoption.

Once your seedling is planted, you'll receive

The georeferenced record of the location where it was planted.

A photograph of your seedling along with information about its ecological importance within the ecosystem.

The certainty of contributing to the recovery of pΓ‘ramos and high-Andean ecosystems that supply water to millions of people.

Your support means

The peace of mind of supporting conservation programs, ecological restoration, high-mountain nurseries, and environmental education led by Cumbres Blancas.

We are losing freshwater sources in Colombia.

Currently, Colombia retains only 6 of the 14 glaciers that once covered its mountain ranges. These glaciers are retreating at an accelerating rate, placing the freshwater resources that supply millions of people at increasing risk.

Today, you can be part of the solution: adopt a FrailejΓ³n or a native plant and become a Water Guardian. Your contribution supports the protection and restoration of Colombia's PΓ‘ramo ecosystems and other critical habitats that sustain biodiversity and provide essential freshwater resources.

Donate now! Every day counts toward securing tomorrow's water resources.

CUMBRES BLANCAS

Works to protect and restore high-mountain ecosystems through:

β€’ Ecological restoration of pΓ‘ramo and high-Andean forest ecosystems through the planting of frailejones and other native plant species.

β€’ The National Network of High-Mountain Nurseries.

β€’ Establishment of high-mountain nurseries.

β€’ Formation of community wildfire response brigades.

β€’ Environmental education for children, youth, and local communities.

β€’ The National Network of Volunteer Environmental Stewards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your contribution helps fund high-mountain nurseries, where we propagate native species such as frailejones. It also covers the materials required for seed germination, plant growth, and transplantation. In addition, your donation supports field expeditions to protect high-Andean forests, pΓ‘ramo ecosystems, and glaciers, while strengthening community brigades that prevent and respond to wildfires. In short, you are helping restore and protect high-mountain ecosystems and, with them, the water supply for millions of people.
We welcome people from all backgrounds, including scientists, photographers, communicators, and mountain enthusiasts. You can register through the "Join Us" section on our official website to participate in future expeditions or environmental education activities.
Your donation helps plant frailejones and other native species, establish specialized high-mountain nurseries, strengthen wildfire response brigades, and restore high-mountain ecosystems that provide freshwater for millions of people.
High-mountain ecosystems are disappearing at an alarming rate. A frailejΓ³n takes years to grow but can be destroyed in just a few hours by wildfire. Acting now is essential to safeguard future water resources and biodiversity.
Yes. Monthly donations help sustain high-mountain nurseries, support ongoing ecosystem restoration, and strengthen conservation efforts that protect Colombia's freshwater sources.
Your contribution helps plant native species, protect strategic ecosystems, strengthen local communities, and conserve the freshwater sources that supply nearly 70% of Colombia's population.
Yes. We use secure payment platforms and transparent processes to ensure that your contribution directly supports the conservation and restoration of high-mountain ecosystems.
